Programme Outlines

Primary 4 English
ISUN Education uses a wide variety of themes and topics that will help students practice their English language skills in a fun, safe, and engaging space.
Content and Language Mastery
Primary 4 students will learn grammatical structures and expand their vocabularies that will help them strengthen their foundation in the English language. They will also learn how to use them in expressing their thoughts and ideas in different social contexts through practice and collaboration using fun and interactive activities and scenarios.
Skills and Techniques
Primary 4 students will build a strong foundation in the following language skills:
- Reading
Students will be exposed to a wide variety of interesting and age-appropriate reading materials to develop their enjoyment and appreciation of reading. Our coaches aim to guide the students to use their prior knowledge and learn reading comprehension skills and strategies through fun and engaging activities.
. - Writing
Students will develop their spelling skills and learn techniques and strategies to develop their accuracy. They will also learn how to write stories and use words and structures for different purposes. Our coaches will facilitate the learning process through collaboration and fun activities that will help them develop a positive disposition towards writing. - Speaking
Students will practice their communication skills as they convey their ideas and thoughts through presentation and collaboration. They will learn how to monitor themselves as they correct their mispronounced words. Our coaches will facilitate safe spaces for students to refine their speaking skills, develop their confidence, and motivate them to express themselves. - Listening
Students will learn positive listening skills that aim to strengthen their sound and word recognition and identify keywords. Our coaches aim to facilitate spaces where they learn to develop empathy and respect in learners as they listen attentively.
Contextualised Learning
Primary 4 students will be exposed to different themes and topics that are authentic and applicable in the real world. This will help them forge connections of their lessons inside the classroom to the world around them. This will enhance their social awareness as they develop their understanding of the world around them.
Primary 4 Mathematics
Content Mastery
- Students will master foundational skills and learn how they are used in real life.
- They will learn and master new topics in numbers and algebra such as factors and multiples, fractions, and decimals. They will also learn new lessons in measurement and geometry such as area and perimeter, angles, and line symmetry. In statistics, they will learn about tables and bar graphs.
- Students will understand the concepts and solve a variety of problems including word problems through engaging games and activities.
Skills and Techniques
- Students will be guided to explore and learn problem-solving techniques and methods that will help them solve different mathematical problems.
- Students will master their fundamental skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and expand these skills with increasing level of complexity based on the themes and topics.
Applied Learning
- Students will be guided to solve mathematical problems in real life using fun and engaging games and activities through collaboration and presentation.
- Students will strengthen their senses and understanding of concepts through practical and hands-on problem-solving. This will help develop their appreciation of math, thus encouraging them to have a positive disposition towards the subject.
Primary 4 Science
Content Mastery
- Students will continue to explore themes on diversity with increasing levels of complexity and learn the key characteristics and classification of different things and materials.
- Learners will also explore the themes on cycles and systems where they learn about the life cycles of plants and animals that include matter and water.
- Students will also explore topics on magnets and energy forms such as light and heat.
Skills and Techniques
- Students will explore and hone their skills and methods needed to engage with phenomena or problems that occur in the environment. This includes formulating hypotheses, generating possibilities, and observing.
- Students will learn how to identify differences, compare and classify different things in the world around them and learn how to express and communicate their observations.
- They will practice and learn the skills and methods in answering experiment-based and application questions. This will help develop their confidence in expressing their knowledge and understanding of different science concepts.
Applied Learning
- Students will be guided to observe and learn science concepts beyond the textbooks through engaging in different activities and experiments to have a stronger grasp and foundation.
- Students will develop their awareness of these concepts in their environment as they engage in problem-solving and investigation.
Primary 4 Chinese
Content Mastery
- Primary 4 students will master new Chinese characters and vocabulary using memory techniques and apply them accordingly based on different social contexts.
Skills and Techniques
- Primary 4 students will build a strong foundation in the key language skills such as reading, speaking, writing, and listening.
- Metacognitive skills will also be taught to them to help them as they navigate to learn the Chinese language.
Contextualised Learning
- Primary 4 students learn various topics and themes that can be used in real-world settings and apply them based on different contexts. This encourages the students to develop interest and understanding around their world and foster empathy and respect.
